The protagonist, Rajinikanth, was born in a theatre screening Dharmathin Thalaivan, and like one of Rajinikanth’s characters in that film, has a forgetful nature. The film doffs its hat at the older film by introducing its protagonist in underwear as he has forgotten to wear pants. This condition of Rajini is a constant source of embarrassment to his parents Ramanathan and Lakshmi, as they cannot find a suitable match for him. One prospective girl's father Sathyamoorthy insults Rajini because of this. As fate would have it, Rajini ends up falling in love with Sathyamoorthy's daughter Vandhana, but she is unaware of Rajini's forgetfulness. How long can Rajini continue with this facade, especially with Ajay, a cop who wants to marry Vandhana and is trying to expose him?

Raja a simple yet well off son of a vegetable vendor. He constantly keeps on having break ups with girls because he is honest. Then he meets Priya and they both fall in love. While this is happening with Raja, there are a group of kidnappings of ministers in the city. This is happening the same way it happened a couple of years ago. So,they put the person who solved the mystery years ago, police commissioner Dileep. He also has an officer under him, Nayeem basha, who is a very smart officer but is not appreciated for it. Coming back to Raja, he comes to know that Priya is none other than Dileep's daughter. Raja also comes to know that priya's about to marry minister's son. Raja goes and talks with dileep and somehow woos him. Dileep reveal's that he wants to marry priya to minister's son. He tricks raja into kidnapping one of the big shots in city. Raja in turn kidnaps priya. Here priya reveals that she never loved him and only acted as she wanted.

The movie story deals with Aishwarya she falls in love with Karthik assuming he is rich, but once she realises he is just a gym instructor, she leaves him and wants to get together with a rich man Arjun. With Karthik standing in her way and threatening to break her relationship with Arjun, Aishwarya is forced to find a suitable girl for Karthik and finds Nisha for him. Aishwarya soon gets disturbed with the rich lifestyle given by Arjun. In a temple, Karthik tells her that his engagement with Nisha is going to happen the night before Valentine's Day. At the same time, Arjun and Aishwarya plan to go to London. On the night Aishwarya is supposed to leave, she realises that she does not want to live this kind of robotic life with Arjun and tells him she loves Karthik. She goes to the place where Karthik and Nisha are going to get engaged. She professes her love but Karthik refuses and leaves the place with Nisha, but then a song plays, and Karthik reveals all of this is a play orchestrated by Nisha and him to make Aishwarya realise her mistake and her love for him. The story ends with Karthik and Aishwarya reunited.
